TORONTO
The Ontario government is launching its newest International Marketing Centre (IMC) in São Paulo, Brazil.
As the world’s sixth largest economy, Brazil is among the so-called BRIC countries — Brazil, Russia, India and China — characterized by rapid economic growth and strong demand for goods and services. Brazil’s economy is generating strong demand in areas where Ontario has expertise including infrastructure development, information technology, agri-food, mining equipment and services, and financial services.
“The OCC (Ontario Chamber of Commerce) and its members are very encouraged by the actions Ontario is taking to enhance its long-standing trade relationship with Brazil. By opening a trade office in São Paulo, the Government of Ontario is taking an important step toward raising the global profile and exporting power of our province’s businesses in one of the world’s most lucrative markets,” said OCC president and chief executive officer Allan O’Dette in a statement.
Since April 2013, Ontario’s IMC network has assisted more than 350 companies to access export markets, while contributing to nine investment projects that are expected to secure more than 250 jobs in the province.
The official opening of the office will be marked during a business mission to Brazil led by Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Employment.
