Site work is moving along for the EQ Bank Tower at 25 Ontario St. in Toronto.
A joint venture between First Gulf Corporation and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), the project includes partial demolition of an existing structure to permit construction of a 24-storey office tower with five levels of underground parking and terraces on the third and 22nd floors with retail/commercial space occupying part of the ground floor. An existing heritage building’s original west facade will act as the main pedestrian entrance. Completion is scheduled for mid-2022 and the project is designed to meet LEED Gold and Toronto Green Standard Tier 2 designations. The project was designed by Sweeny & Co Architects Inc. and the heritage architect is E.R.A. Architects. Consultants are: Read Jones Christoffersen (structural); The Mitchell Partnership (mechanical); Mulvey & Banani International Inc. (electrical); Ecovert (geotechnical); and NAK Design Strategies (landscape).
