Ontario selects natural gas expansion projects

Ontario’s Associate Minister of Energy Bill Walker has scheduled an announcement for today about projects selected for Phase 2 funding of Ontario’s Natural Gas Expansion Program. Watch for Daily Commercial News coverage. 

 

TK Elevator opens new Toronto branch

TK Elevator Canada announced today it has opened a new branch, its 59th location throughout Canada. Located at 445 Milner Ave. in east Toronto, the Toronto South branch will include more than 90 employees. TK Elevator became an independent firm after its sale by thyssenkrupp AG in August 2020 and is active in the service business with over 24,000 service technicians. 

 

Oilsands producers announce net zero plan

Five of Canada’s largest oilsands producers formally announced their Oil Sands Pathways to Net Zero initiative this morning. Canadian Natural Resources, Cenovus Energy, Imperial, MEG Energy and Suncor Energy operate approximately 90 per cent of Canada’s oilsands production. The stated goal of the alliance, working with the federal and Alberta governments, is to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions from oilsands operations by 2050 to help Canada meet its climate goals, including its Paris Agreement commitments and 2050 net zero goals.  

 

Ontario continues to expand rapid testing program

The Ontario government announced today it has delivered 12.3-million rapid antigen test kits for COVID-19 to over 2,600 worksites across the province. Less than a month after the launch of its COVID-19 Rapid Screening Initiative, following pilot testing at construction jobsites, Ontario has shipped nearly 2.4-million kits to local chambers of commerce. Businesses are encouraged to get their own rapid antigen screening kits by contacting their local chamber of commerce or by registering at ontario.ca/testingonsite.
