William Conway, whose photos depicting the progress of Canadian construction projects appear regularly in The Daily Commercial News, won the Gordon B. Wright Photography Award for a picture of linemen.
Daily Commercial News (DCN) freelance photographer William Conway has won the Construction Writers Association’s (CWA) Gordon B. Wright Photography Award for his photo “The Linemen.”
The award-winning photo was the cover photograph for a DCN general and trades contracting special feature. The Linemen captures the everyday needs of communication, teamwork and hard work on all construction sites.
Conway said that when he saw the eight foundation workers carrying the long lengths of steel up the slope on the site he knew he could capture an image that represented teamwork and cooperation.
Comments from the judges on the photo included, “Compelling photo that was interesting visually. It illustrates the importance of teamwork on the job site.”
This is the fourth year in a row Conway has received CWA honours. The Daily Commercial News feature on general trade & contracting feature was published October 29, 2010.
